I’m not much of a baseball fan. I don’t hate it. I like the world series. I’m just not a true fan. I don’t follow a team faithfully. In fact, I’m strictly a bandwagon fan, I like the team that’s winning. More exact, I am a fan of whoever has the greatest chance of beating the Yankees. This year that’s all changed.
Enter: Joba Chamberlain. It is very difficult for me to hate the Yankees. In fact, I think I am becoming more of a fan, in large part due to the fact that Manny Ramirez is pouting in Boston. But they won’t have to worry about him anymore. Anyway, this year I think I’m going to have to cheer on the Yankees. Which almost makes me want to vomit as I say it. I grew up hating the Yankees - I was a KC Royals fan.
I have always wondered why the pitchers always have to warm up. Haven’t they been warming up in the bullpen? It takes too much time. What if they did that in football? Could you see quarterbacks warming up on the sidelines, be put in and then have to warm up on the field? Baseball is slow enough, couldn’t you speed it up just a little by skipping the warm up when they switch pitchers.
Anyway, I have enjoyed a few games this summer, but I still consider baseball the sport that is the best for taking a nap. Sunday afternoon and I want to take a nice little nap, I know that all I have to do is turn on a little baseball and I’m gone.
