Today is the day that we’re supposed to hear if Ashaunte “Bear” Jones, a 6′4″ guard from Indiana. He was very interested in Nebraska, but said he was looking at Memphis and Kentucky. Hey, if Memphis and Kentucky are looking at him, he must be pretty good.
He wanted to make an impact on the program right away. What that means is he wants to play and he doesn’t want to wait around. Which is good news for us. He’s the type of guy that can shoot from the outside and slash to the basket. He looks to be a pretty exciting player to watch. He is exactly what this program needs is a playmaker.
This is the type of player Doc Sadler loves to work with. Someone that is versatile, can create on offense, but above all, someone that can play defense. Not sure if this guy can play defense, but nothing that a little coaching can’t cure.
And the best thing about this guy is that he already has nickname! You know he’s good if he has had that nickname his whole life. (Which he has, his mother gave it to him as a baby)
