Bo Pelini did not elaborate on the reason for dismissing Dixon. The depth of the defensive line is thin to begin with now we have to wait and see who will step up during fall camp.

Marlon Lucky looks bigger and stronger. He and Helu pushed each other during their summer work outs. Both are looking forward to an offense that is committed to running the ball. Helu made a significant statement towards the end indicating that the team is looking forward to beating up on teams, they want to be tougher. Kind of rings a bell from the past, doesn’t it?

Zac Potter stated that everyone has slimmed down and is in better condition this year. Marlon Lucky said that the O-line is more explosive this year. And Joe Ganz admitted that the team needed to have a good fall camp and a couple of wins to shake last year’s disaster. He was honest in the fact that it won’t just go away that they are going to have to work hard and win a couple of games to forget the past and gain confidence.

I found it hard to believe that Bo hadn’t watched any tape from last year, but could anyone really blame him? I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other on this, I just found it interesting.

And it wasn’t just a few guys scoring. There were a ton at -10 or better. I would say that if you didn’t score -10 or better that you might want to think about a career change. Is Champions Run a good enough course for a professional tour to play on?

Winners from previous tournaments averaged a score of about -10. The winner at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Springfield Missouri had a winning score of -26. That was just a couple of weeks ago. Are the players improving as the season continues? Maybe.

I think Champions Run could stand to have a few more strategically placed trees and a few more bunkers. I think they do a great job on the rough. I just think that if they added a few more trees, it just seems pretty open.

What do you think? Is Champions Run “good enough” or do they need to make some adjustments to keep the tour here?

I’m not much of a baseball fan. I don’t hate it. I like the world series. I’m just not a true fan. I don’t follow a team faithfully. In fact, I’m strictly a bandwagon fan, I like the team that’s winning. More exact, I am a fan of whoever has the greatest chance of beating the Yankees. This year that’s all changed.

Enter: Joba Chamberlain. It is very difficult for me to hate the Yankees. In fact, I think I am becoming more of a fan, in large part due to the fact that Manny Ramirez is pouting in Boston. But they won’t have to worry about him anymore. Anyway, this year I think I’m going to have to cheer on the Yankees. Which almost makes me want to vomit as I say it. I grew up hating the Yankees - I was a KC Royals fan.

I have always wondered why the pitchers always have to warm up. Haven’t they been warming up in the bullpen? It takes too much time. What if they did that in football? Could you see quarterbacks warming up on the sidelines, be put in and then have to warm up on the field? Baseball is slow enough, couldn’t you speed it up just a little by skipping the warm up when they switch pitchers.

Anyway, I have enjoyed a few games this summer, but I still consider baseball the sport that is the best for taking a nap. Sunday afternoon and I want to take a nice little nap, I know that all I have to do is turn on a little baseball and I’m gone.

November 3, 1962, Homecoming Saturday and Nebraska faced the Missouri Tigers. How did the Scarlet and Cream fair? Not good on that day, however they did begin a streak that can only be attributed to some of the best college football fans.

On that fateful day the Big Red lost to the Missouri Tigers, but it began a very long streak of sellout crowds that has endured many ups and downs and continues to this day. Nebraska was undefeated, under the direction of Bob Devaney and to get beat by the Tigers was an upset.

Nearly fifty years later the tables are turned and Nebraska is looking to upset the Tigers on Homecoming Day. Let’s just hope that the tables don’t turn too far and end the sellout streak that began during the game in ‘62. However I don’t think we will have anything to worry about losing the record streak of sellout crowds. It’s like me taking a swim in a public pool - it ain’t gonna happen! It’s a public bathtub, toilet and spittoon, it’s gross. How can anyone legitimately take a dip in the public pool and place their trust in some hung over college student that checks the chemicals and be ok? You aren’t. Don’t believe people when they claim that the chemicals kill all the germs. Really?!?! No thanks. It’s just not going to happen for this Husker Fan. And don’t believe people when they tell you to jump in, that it’s warm. It’s warm because 20 kids have just taken a leak in the pool! It’s one giant piss pool. No thanks.

Sorry, I’ve lost where I was at. Anyway, the sellout crowd won’t end, but will the Huskers end the Tigers road for a National Championship? North Championship? Big XII championship?
