The Volleyball schedule came out yesterday and it looks like it’s one of the toughest, most exciting schedules.  I don’t know about you guys, but even if you proclaim yourself to be an avid football fan, the Volleyball team deserves to be taken a look at.  The Husker Volleyball team is quietly going about their business.  They have four returning starters and they are going to open their season against USC and Standford at the Qwest Center.  They have won three national titles, 1995, 2000 and 2006.  They are continually in the running for the national title and they are doing it in a somewhat archaic facility. I don’t want to bring up Callahan, I want to put that story behind me just as much as anyone, but I want to bring up one thing he was somewhat successful at and that is recruiting. At least he brought in a few highly rated recruits, whether they amounted to anything is another story, but he did bring in some athletes. Now, how is Bo going to deal with these guys? Are these guys the type of athlete that Bo can work with? Do we care if these Callahan recruits are able to hack it? Read the rest of this entry »

Measurements. Guys love to measure everything. They measure their success by their bank account, their square footage of their house, how many miles per gallon their truck gets, they even compare their height, weight and other parts of their anatomy. Suddenly when they put their 42 inch waste down in the 18 inches they are given at Memorial Stadium, they don’t think that they are as big as they think they are. They suddenly think that they have the slim 32 inch waste they had in college.
